The Task
Design an original app that can track data and is related to wellness.
The Problem
Individuals with ADHD are more prone to nicotine addiction and need an engaging way to quit cigarettes and overcome immediate cravings.
The Solution
A mobile app, which offers users a way to quit cigarettes, by incorporating elements of gamification and tactics to beat immediate cravings. The app features built-in challenges, and the ability to connect with a mentor.

Challenges
Most smoking cession apps on the market have a bland and ominous feeling to their UI, resulting in large drop off in usage.
Individuals with ADHD are more likely to have nicotine dependence, as they seek high-dopamine activities.
People wanting to quit cigarettes often find it difficult to maintain the commitment.
Smokers wanting to quit are not motivated by health warnings.
Results
A bold and vibrant color palette, which creates a positive feeling for the user, and helps maintain engagement.
Gamified elements, such as challenges with rewards, as well as badges - providing boosts of dopamine to the user and increasing commitment.
Ability to connect with a mentor, helping the user to stay accountable towards their goal and provide peer support.
Emphasis placed on money saved by quitting smoking, as opposed to ominous health warnings.
What I Learned
By researching a niche market segment, such as individuals with ADHD who smoke cigarettes, I was able to target a pain point for some instead of for all.
Gamification is now present in many mobile apps and can be used to promote positive behavioural change.
There is always room for improvement in design. After thinking I had completed the final design, I did another revamp, during which I came up with the final color palette.
Competitor analysis can provide just as much insight about what to do, as what not to do.
